Then use this for Perforce and Git implementations. Also add it to the API, as it can do a lot of the annoying and trickier bits for an SCM plugin author.
I am not fixed in doing this for 2.0.x, but want to keep it in view for now. We should consider how this fits with reviewing commands (in particular refactoring ExecutableCommand), which is likely to be a 2.1 thing.
