As a consultant I am setting up a build system for my client including the project definitions which will rely heavily on properties. While I can try to use meaningful names, it would be better if I could add an optional description describing the property and how it is used.

Add description field to property definition
This sounds like a good idea. I will tentatively schedule for 2.0, although it may not make it. We do have some other ideas for properties contributed from other users so perhaps it will make sense to implement them all in one go.
