 Description  « Hide
I love the email committer feature that was added recently. Unfortunately, not all of my P4 userids match valid email addresses for each user. It would be great if there was a way I can map a perforce userid to a valid email address so that when a developer submits a change to P4, pulse wakes up and runs the build, and then sends email to each committer. This is in lieu of each user having a Pulse userid. I believe this was talked about on the support forum and I just wanted to throw it out there again as something I would love to see in the product.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for raising this as a proper issue for us. I have a feeling this will be solved more elegantly after we have the new configuration/templating system we are building into Pulse 2.0.

Trying to clean things up a little. We currently have a couple of very large buckets of tasks that are really not indications of our scheduling. What I am doing is for starters, moving all of the 2.x. items into x.x to indicate that they have not been scheduled. We can later go through these and pick up with ones that we intend to complete for an upcoming release.

Perforce itself already has an email address for each user. Why isn't that being used?

jason - 24/Jun/09 06:01 PM
Hi Patrick,

I agree it would be ideal to harvest the emails from Perforce. In the more general case (for other SCMs), though, we may also need an additional facility. Perhaps the we should look into solving this for Perforce first.

Note that the primary notification system in Pulse - users configuring their own subscription preferences - does not have this limitation. Users can configure whatever email addresses they choose, and can subscribe to builds that include changes by them.
